I am calling a 4th Of July Meeting this Friday evening (11/20/15), at 6:30 PM at the West Union Masonic Lodge.

The main reason is to discuss the entertainment next 4th.  Bands are all booking for next year already.

To clear up any confusion, the annual evening meal to thank Joe for his support of the 4th Of July celebration is this Thursday evening (7/7/15) , 6:00 PM.

It has been pointed out to me that there is an error in the Marshall Advocate article about the West Union 4th Of July festivities.  It States that the Auction is the West Union Ruritan Club’s primary source of funding.

The article did not read this way when I delivered it, and while it should have read the 4th of July’s  primary source of funding, the West Union Ruritan Club is a very good friend of the 4th celebration, and any print error that tilts in their favor is okay by me.

The Advocate is very generous to provide our event this, and the other free media coverage that they do.  Please thank Gary Strohm and his staff any chance you have for their generosity.  This slight error is certainly not worthy of mention.

I HAVE 18 ITEMS ON THE WEB SITE FOR OUR AUCTION, WITH 2 MORE COMMING THAT I KNOW OF.  I CAN’T PUT THE AUCTION ITEMS ON THE WEB SITE IF I AM NOT TOLD WHAT YOU HAVE COLLECTED!

AT THIS POINT, OUR AUCTION WILL LAST ABOUT 15 MINUTES.

I WENT WITH BURTH THIS MORNING AROUND THE MERCHANTS THAT BURT AND USUALLY GARY BOOTH SEE EVERY YEAR TO COLLECT MERCHANDISE FOR OUR AUCTION/DRAWING.  MOST WERE VERY GENEROUS, A FEW SEEMED TO BE GIVING US THE OLD CLASSIC BLOW-OFF.  FOLLOWING ARE MY NOTES OF WHO GAVE WHAT AND THOSE WHO DID NOT.  WHOM EVER IS GOING TO HUTSONVILLE FOODS AND FARMERS & MERCHANT’S BANK, PLEASE STOP BY THE WABASH COFFEE HOUSE AND SEE WHAT CHUCH WANTS TO DO.  THANK YOU.

PLEASE KEEP ME POSTED OF WHAT YOU ALL ARE COLLECTING FROM MERCHANTS.  I AM KEEPING A LIST OF AUCTION ITEMS ON THE WEB SITE, AND TRYING TO KEEP THE DONORS LIST ON THE SITE CURRENT.

Memorial Day is past, so now it’s time to get serious about preparing for the 4th Celebration!

I have been working on Updating Web Site (www.westunion4th.com).  Please take a look and see if you see anything wrong.

Chairman(s)-please update or give me your updates to the event(s) you are managing, such as current entry forms, rules updates, and so on.

About time to start selling raffle tickets.  I’m going to the bank today to get some case, so I’ll have a bag ready with tickets to sell and case to make change.

Linda, do you want to make the raffle signs or do you want me to?

Last meeting we discussed some schedule changes that we will need to “Nail Down” so that I can get the Web Site updated.

Also, we will start planning for ticket sales.
